Pennsylvania Auto Insurance

As a driver, you can choose to purchase FULL TORT or LIMITED TORT insurance.

Under the FULL TORT system, you retain your rights to sue the other party in an automobile accident. Under the LIMITED TORT option, you may sue for direct expenses, but not for non-economic damages (such as pain and suffering) unless injuries are very serious. Very serious, however, is not defined.

Purchasing the LIMITED TORT policy over a FULL TORT policy will lower your premium 15-18%.

All drivers are required by law to carry liability and medical benefits. Required coverage limits are $15,000 Bodily Injury per person, $30,000 Bodily Injury per accident, $5,000 Property Damage, and $5,000 Medical. The $5,000 Medical Benefit goes towards covering the cost of your medical bills regardless of fault.

Other lines of coverage are optional. Under and Uninsured Motorists coverage, Work Loss, Funeral Benefits, Physical Damage (to your auto), Towing, and Rental Reimbursement are typically quoted but not required.
